In the fi nal lesson of the trilogy on Capital Structure, Prof. George Varughese dwells on a few topics of interest to the Finance Manager, not covered in the preceding lessons. Topics under study include the oftquoted, but less understood ‘Dividend Puzzle’. Abird in hand is worth two in a bush. Practical issues in the issue of dividends are discussed. He also enlightens students about hybrid instruments, at the disposal of the Finance Manager, which have characteristics of both equity and debt.
