Project Management
The name Dupont and the Polaris Missile project are synonymous with the origin of Project Management techniques. They are techniques that can be applied to tasks which range from the mundane to the esoteric. From the one shot to the repeatable. From building a small workshop to building a nuclear power plant. These techniques are a must when the problems of planning and co-ordination of a set of activities are too complex to be held in the mind. A high level of inter-dependence of activities is what creates the complexity. The author of this lesson, T Sivanandam, General Manager, BPL Ltd., is a veteran in the fi eld. To his credit are many complex projects where the ribbons were cut well ahead of schedule. It is pertinent to follow him as he shows the way. Starting with PERT/CPM techniques over simple networks, he moves on to Critical Path Scheduling, Network Diagram Differences, Simulation and Crashing. The real world is his drawing board.
