Total Quality Management (TQM) and ISO
The objective of this lesson is to understand the whole range of procedures and processes that ensure compliance with quality standards. The subject starts with, but extends beyond the coverage under OP/PM10. As the perception of quality evolved, the seven levels of QC emerged. The author, T Sivanandam of BPL Ltd., elaborates on the ISO 9000 process but that is not where his focus lies. Why TQM as opposed to just an ISO 9000 certifi cation? Drawing from industry experience, the author establishes the precept that, this understanding is fundamental to any quality system. From principles, the lesson moves on to TQM implementation, attendant benefi ts and the migration to World Class Manufacturing (WCM).
